I woke around 3 a.m. this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I got up and made coffee and sat down at the table in the alcove in the kitchen, and began reading back through some of my earlier entries to remind myself of what I’d been talking about before I left off. When I reached the most recent entry, the one that precedes this one, I sat here thinking for a while about it — about whether I wanted or needed to add anything to it, or whether I could just leave it alone, which is to say leave it as it is, without any adjustments. I decided to change a word or two, and add a sentence to the end of it, and now I’m ready to move on, though I’m not opposed to returning to that entry, or any of the others, at some later instance, to try and improve upon it. Or of adding a new entry entirely, between two earlier ones, if I decide I ought to do so.
