One of the main reasons to include dialogue in prose is to reveal conflict, for instance, and I’m not sure I want to reveal any conflict I find myself involved in, whether that conflict is big or small. Though I’m more likely to reveal it, I admit, if it involves a person who isn’t a friend or loved one of mine, but rather is a stranger, or a distant acquaintance. Because I do want to protect the privacy of all who are close to me, even if, as well, I’m not trying to be reckless with the privacy of anyone.
