Because I have no excuse, if you ask me, for not living up to these obligations, voluntary though they might be. I have no job, I have no children, no one is asking anything of me, or anyway is asking very little of me when they do ask. If I don’t attend then to these holy chores, or activities, what else am I going to do with time that will otherwise be idle? A man who is my age and who is not occupied with the responsibilities that are more typical of a husband and father, in this day and age, will very quickly find himself in dangerous waters, spiritually speaking, if he does not install himself in the life of the true faith, which does happen to be the Catholic faith, though I realize there are other faiths through which a person might work out his or her salvation, even if only through the grace of Jesus Christ.
