Last night, after Mass at the parish of St. Vincent Ferrer, the skull of St. Thomas Aquinas was processed into the church by four Dominicans and placed, in its reliquary, on a little table or platform that had been set up, for the purpose of veneration, on the steps in front of the altar. I waited in my pew until the time arrived when I could get up and join the queue of parishioners who intended to kneel beside the relic for a few moments and say a quick prayer. The church was very quiet for the number of people present. The line moved slowly, and I was conscious of how the occasion required patience.
