Yesterday evening I left the apartment, walked a couple blocks to the parking ramp where A. and I keep our vehicle when we are here, in the city, and, after the attendant had brought the vehicle out from its place, and had left it idling for me, and he and I had exchanged a few pleasantries, and I’d thanked him and given him a denomination of bill, for a tip, I got behind the wheel and drove the vehicle out onto the streets of Queens and made my way toward the subway station near the airport where I’d arranged to meet A., because her flight from Germany had just landed, and I was going to pick her up.
