Because art is an occupation, like any other, even if it involves the integration or synthesis of certain parts of the person in a way that is unique among all occupations. Whereas faith (and here I would specify the Catholic faith) is beyond occupation, or beneath it, or around it, bringing the person, in his or her entirety, into contact with the divine in its most authentic or veritable form.
