One thing for which she is remembered, for example, is a painting of Christ, now ubiquitous (found on prayer cards and in the naves of Catholic churches), that she was directed, by way of her visions or locutions, to produce; in it Jesus stands in a white robe, one hand raised in benediction, the other gesturing toward his heart, from which are pouring, at different angles, rays of red light and pale light (representing the blood and water that streamed from the wound in his side, after his death, due to the thrust of a centurion’s spear).
