My point being, however, that this ‘tribulation’ (if that is not an unsuitable term) will resemble, because it is an external force (rather than an inward temptation), something like a demoralizing agent, though it will dress itself in the trappings of ‘joy’, ‘compassion’, ‘empathy’, and so on.
