Though I must concede that, in order to be a functioning member of society, and belong to civilization, one needs to relax one’s grip on certain ideas that one might have about, say, the proportionality of expression to that which is being expressed; one must recognize that, in general, everyone is doing their best to navigate human interactions with an instrument of evolution (language) that, like all others, can only be imperfectly applied; one must be reasonable, flexible, and not overly demanding.
