Of course, a more general (and perhaps more useful) definition of sin would be an ‘offense against God’. But I do not think it inaccurate to say that such an offense will always involve a violence against categories, which God the Father instituted, by way of his creative ‘word’, as the building blocks of reality, so that we might find reality intelligible, and live in harmony with it, even now, after the ‘Fall’, to the extent that harmony is still possible in a world that death has entered into.
