This morning they left for the airport in an Uber, while I was still asleep. I’d told them last night I could drive them there myself, in one of their vehicles, because I’d probably be awake by then, because my body would still be on East Coast time, but they’d assured me they’d get themselves there without my assistance, that I shouldn’t worry or concern myself with that part of their journey. And in fact I did not wake as early as I’d thought I was going to, but only happened to hear them as they were going out the door, with their luggage, a few hours before sunrise.
