I like that photograph, so I saved it out when I closed up the package to return it to its place in the box on the shelf in the closet where I’d found it. Now the photo is resting on a dresser, positioned so I can see it if I glance in that direction. I’ll ask my mother when she returns if I might keep it. Then, if she says yes, I’ll take it with me when I return to New York.
